On Saturday, May 25th, The Radiance Foundation will hold a benefit luncheon (from 12p-3p) to celebrate the Life, Love & Legacy of Sally DeAngelo. Our Sally’s Lambs outreach was inspired by the passion of Sally DeAngelo. As a teen, she found herself pregnant and in a crisis. But she turned the unplanned into a loving plan and placed her first son for adoption. She flourished. He flourished. And her compassion for those in similar circumstances began a life-long journey with other birthmoms and caring for their emotional, physical, and even financial needs.

The luncheon, hosted by Joy DeAngelo Bowman (Sally’s daughter, seen in video “Legacy”) and Bethany Bomberger (Joy’s best friend from college and co-founder of The Radiance Foundation), will be an opportunity to remember Sally’s life. Family, friends, and complete strangers are welcome join us at Carlisle Evangelical Free Church located on 290 Petersburg Road in Carlisle, PA 17013.

At Sally’s Lambs^® we LOVE adoption. We love when birth mamas (as I like to call them) turn the unplanned into a loving plan! Across America more than 14,000+ Birth Moms a year make a plan to place their children for adoption. This life-affirming alternative to abortion allows children to be raised in homes where resources are available to make dreams come true.

Each birthmom who places their child(ren) for adoption has their own story and very personal reasons for their choice. Sally’s Lambs^® is an outreach that seeks to help birthmoms feel love and support from their community – and their Creator – as they walk through their unique adoption journey!

One of the ways we do this is with our Sally’s Lambs^® Birth Mom Baskets. We create gift baskets that are as special the mom herself! Each basket is filled with goodies appropriate to the birthmom’s age and stage in life. In addition, they always include a journal, a devotional, a Bible, and a gift card. Each basket costs approximately $100.00.

We love partnering with birth mom caseworkers, pastors, social workers and adoptive families across the nation. These partners help us to expand our reach and bless countless numbers of birth moms.

Here are some guidelines to ensure all baskets have equal quality and substance.

• All items must be brand new and be able to fit in a gift basket.

• Due to health & safety standards, as well as the sensitivity of our message, we are unable to accept the following:
  • Used or opened items
  • Clothing (We never ask for the women’s sizes and steer clear of the size issue all together J)
  • Shoes (Including slippers)
  • Anything with skulls, guns, or violent imagery
  • Anything too large to fit in a gift basket
  • Food items (other than candy)

• Some suggestions:
  • Gift cards (Walmart and Target are best.)
  • Brand name soaps and lotions (Bath and Body Works, Body Shop, etc.)

People from all over Hampton Roads came out to support Sally’s Lambs®  first annual CHERISHED event! From area churches, women’s support groups, and even Sentara nursing students, people showed their enthusiasm with our passion to cherish birth moms. Held at the beautiful Terebinth Restaurant in Chesapeake, VA, it was a night of sweet treats, Sally’s plush lambs and t-shirts, prize give-aways, a silent auction, and one powerful testimony from a birth mom who was the first to receive one of our Sally’s Lambs Birth Mom Gift Boxes. It was an emotional moment that confirmed why it’s so important to reach out to those who are too often forgotten–birth moms who choose adoption.

This event took a lot of work and behind-the-scenes coordinating. We’d like to thank everyone involved, especially Kristin DePola (our Asst. Director), Angi Highlander (our extraordinary intern), Pastor Tina Davis (Board member, DNA Women’s Group Director, and constant supporter), and Dana Williams (our new Board member, Leader of New Life Provide M.O.P.S. group, and wonderful supporter), and the nursing students from Sentara who so graciously helped pull things together in the last several weeks.

Cherished: A birth mom benefit that’s all about her. On Friday, May 18th from 6pm-9pm, The Radiance Foundation’s Sally’s Lambs outreach is holding it’s Cherished event at the award-winning Terebinth patisserie & bistro in Chesapeake, VA. This benefit will be a delicious expo of gift boxes, plush lambs, t-shirt, wantsies® and Terebinth treats to help birth moms who choose adoption over abortion.

100% OF ALL PROCEEDS GO DIRECTLY INTO ASSISTING AND BLESSING BIRTH MOMS.
